I had a lovely late afternoon walk yesterday and happened upon an unexpected surprise. Someone had been busy brightening up the world with wonderful woolly fish and flowers, crocheted, felted, fun and fanciful. I would like to share some of these be-beached fishy creatures and flowers……..
I love the free form crochet but I have not attempted any myself. The thought of some crochet ‘WOOL BOMBING’ in the garden could be fun.
And finally the sun is setting…….
Good night.

Obsession…….
Another day another bag…….pale chalky pink. I have started a third. I find that when I get past the initial stages of increasing it is the ideal carry around and do in an odd moment item, and there are plenty of those! A coffee stop break make, a five minute pick up and crochet a couple of rounds item, when there is not enough time to concentrate fully. Hoping to complete a third bag tomorrow.

‘At Last’ my little bag is finished……. hooray!
I am in string bag heaven! Just finished the little denim number and I am looking forward to taking it out for a jolly jaunt tomorrow. I couldn’t resist tying a white rose onto the handle with some navy lace. I am celebrating with some Glen Miller on the record player. I have started another in chalky pink! This could develop into an obsession.
One of my favourite tracks ‘At Last’ blissful listening……
Happy crocheting.

String bags and recycled cotton….
I bought some new yarn yesterday ‘SIMPLY RECYCLED’ cotton by Sirdar. I like the chalky colours and as my attention has gone to the string bag I thought this may be a good choice. I have made a start with the denim blue (shade 0020). Progress is slow and I have had to unpick some of my bag! I had too little sleep last night and my attention wandered as the opening of my bag got smaller…… all will be resolved but not tonight.
I also found a feel good book ‘Granny Chic’. A book to browse through and dream.
On the subject of books, I was given a bejewelled plain paper book by a friend. I have decided to use it for ideas of things to make, patterns of items that I want to make or have made and references for wools.
Artie Shaw likes buttons……
I couldn’t resist photographing my large glass sweet jar, now a button container (it was full of soap!)….. I should really tip out the contents to see the buttons at the centre of this button mass. Perhaps I will, but not tonight as I want to post this and then continue making my string bag. I am using some white Indian cotton as it has been sitting on the wool stash shelf for a very long time and a 5mm crochet hook.
The wool shop is open tomorrow and I am hoping that the yarn to finish my hand warmers has arrived. I would like to be able to say I’ve finished that project.

The dried milk tin and the buttons…..
Buttons and their containers seem to be the theme again. I inherited the Dried Milk Tin from my mother and it still remains full of buttons, buckles and odd bits and pieces that needed a home. The contents have a rather dark colour theme reflecting the austerity of the 1940’s but it has survived the test of time and it gives me pleasure to see it on the shelf in my cottage.

Noddy and the buttons……
Sorted some of the buttons today and decided to put the colourful collection in the old Noddy tin……. I have had this tin since I was a child and remember it being full of sweets. Buttons seem the better choice of content now and it is quite reassuring to see it being used again.
I will try and sort the tray of useful things out tomorrow!
