Happy hands are warm hands…….

DSCF1291DSCF1294
I have just got in from ‘Les Mis’ and feel quite emotionally drained so have started making hand warmers again. Today I visited the wool shop to get some more yarn. I am using Monsoon, a James Brett yarn (30% wool and 70% acrylic) with a 5 hook and Stylecraft Chunky Harlequin using a 6 hook. I like the rich colour palette and the unpredictability of the colours. I have decided to knit the left and right hand consecutively using two balls. I sometimes despair of having to crochet the other hand! It’s all in the mind as it will still take the same amount of time. I am waiting for the James Brett ‘Passion’ to come in, a lovely chunky yarn, but it has been delayed and I think Spring will be in the air before it arrives. I have an unfinished pair of H/W’s to complete using passion………but the passion may have run out before I get it.

About hookandply

I am a painter and maker. I love experimenting with colour and textures and I find wools and fabrics irresistable. I was taught to knit by my mother and have always felt comfortable with all things knitting but about two years ago I started to learn to crochet and got hooked. I have various projects scattered around the house so that I can pick up a project wherever I am. If I go out I take some trusty crochet with me to do when I am enjoying a break in a cafe. It is a good starting point for a conversation. Has anyone else found this? My most resent passion is Lindy Hop and the 1940's but that is another story.

I could do with a pair of those – I’ve had cold hands while painting this week. When will spring ever arrive?

    • I hope it arrives soon but it seems to be sleeting here this morning. I get cold hands that encouraged me to make hand warmers. I often wear them in the house as keeping my wrists warm seems to makes a difference. Keep painting……. your lovely painting of the anemones make me feel that Spring has Sprung…….. 🙂

  4. What lovely colours! I particularly like the top one. Hand warmers sound like a good idea – I think I need some for these chilly days when I am sitting at my laptop.
